The times are changing quickly, with new and varied tech daily, arising and spreading globally. However, some inventions will stand the test of time, having existed for millennia, undoubtedly existing for many more. Specifically, the cup, notebook and pen.

Consider the scrawlings on cave walls; stone and clay tablets, papyrus, vellum, parchment and paper. Are they essential? No, not truly.
